Many photographers find it hard to decide which DSLR to get, the first-rate Nikon D90 or the latest Nikon D5000? The former has already wowed many photographers with its superb features. But many people say the D5000 would be a lot better.

Cloudy: Definitely, the D90 is way better compared to the D5000. You have to buy it now before the price shoots up. Actually, quite frighteningly the price of the D90 is going up fast.

hockey_guy: If the D5000 maintains its $799 selling price, I must say that the D90 features are worth the extra dollars. Additionally, the D90 has the sub command dial feature, which is very important particularly when you shoot manually.

Mark Stein: It appears that the D5000 is an entry-level camera; the D90, on the other hand, is suited for more serious enthusiast photographers. The D5000 is only about $200 cheaper compared to the D90. Considering the price and specs, the D90 is a better camera for a bit more dollars.

Skittles: The D90 screen (3-in 920 HD video) is a winner. What more could you ask for?

Happypopeye: The Nikon D5000 is a new camera, so everyone is all hyped up about it. If you need to buy a DSLR now, I suggest you get the Nikon D90. If you do not, wait a bit, read some reviews when they come out, see if there are any major problems, and make an educated decision a few weeks or months after the camera is made available.

Markinvictoria: I have had my D90 for 2 days now. Reading the D5000 features, I am happy I bought the D90. I am happy with the built in focus motor, commander mode, high resolution LCD, etc.
